 Assen Marchevski

Assen Marchevski

Nationality: Bulgarian

Asen Marchevski was born in Sofia in 1934. He graduated Italian philology at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridsky. His path in life has not always been easy, but it has always been connected with Italy, and he was able to acquire an excellent knowledge of this "country of seven faces". His profession of interpreter has led Marchevski to meet people who will go down in history. The author has interpreted for five presidents of Italy in a row, for three popes in a row, and for about fifteen Italian foreign ministers... He describes the events of his career with empathy, and they are well worth relating. Written in a fresh, lively manner, with a sense of humor, at times biting but never spiteful, these memoirs are based on the author's translation notes; it is an intriguing account, for in it there is certainly nothing invented.
