This collection concentrates on the tumultuous and contradictory historical and present-day life of the Bulgarian people, whom the authors of this project perceive as "people at crossroads". The purpose of the collection is the philosophical interpretation of the cultural dimensions of that lifestyle, whereby historical influences and their modern-time projections are outlined in their completeness. The concept of a "crossroads man" expresses the cultural self-identification of the Bulgarian within the context of the multidirectional influences exerted on the formation of his values and historical being. The theoretical realization of this idea has been accomplished via the shaping of the humanistic ideal on the level of rationality, spirituality and religious affiliation. The book is the first completely philosophical investigation of the historical roots and present-day identification of the Bulgarian's lifestyle.
