RIVA publishers was established in 1990. Its thematic range has been oriented to school textbooks and manuals, history, philosophy, the social sciences, literature by Bulgarian and foreign authors, Greek and Latin epigraphy, musicology.

RIVA Publishers has had two independent participations in the International Book Fair in Frankfurt, on a special invitation extended by its organizers.

The publishing firm has been conducting projects with the backing of the National Centre of Books, the Theatre Centre and the National Culture Fund at the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, the Vitosha Programme of the French Embassy in Bulgaria, the American Institute, the French Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Culture of Spain, the Ministry of Culture of Italy, the Federal Ministry of Education, Culture and Art of the Republic of Austria, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, ILE - Dublin, Ireland, the Hungarian Book Foundation, Budapest, the Japan Foundation.

Jointly with well established world-known publishing houses like Thames&Hudson, Flammarion, Weldon Owen, Octopus, IVY Press, RIVA publishes illustrated encyclopedic books of high informative and educational value.

School literature represents a large portion of RIVA’s publishing production. The series I Abide by the Rules for 1st to 7th graders, designed for the needs of homeroom teachers, is among the publications in high demand. Equally successful are the school manuals for 1st to 4th grade: Reading and Understanding, I’m Learning Spelling with Ease, I’m Solving Maths Problems, as well as the system of learning through games during school vacations The Big Vacation and A Fabulous Winter Vacation. RIVA’s authors are some of the outstanding scholars in the field, including: Prof. Dr. Kiril Dimchev, Prof. Dr. Neli Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanya Krastanova, Assoc.
